Charlotte Jane & Joe Ruberto Trio - Remembering Sass
The Charlotte Jane Quartet, features original arrangements, rare tunes and stellar musicianship by Charlotte Jane with Joe Ruberto, Michael Tortoni, Gideon Marcus (plus special guests). This long-standing collaboration has created onstage chemistry, freedom of improvisation and adventures foraging into new musical paths with outrageous swingin', smooth singin' and fusion jazz elements.
Charlotte Jane is a jazz vocalist, violinist and songwriter with a passion for jazz, fusion, classical & gospel. She has performed throughout Australia and New Zealand at jazz festivals, major corporate and outdoor events, musical theatre, gospel concerts and featured with many of Melbourne and Sydney's most in-demand musicians. She is a trained actress (AFTT, Sydney), and as such delivers each lyric with a depth of connection that captivates the room. Early inspirations include Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and Stephane Grapelli. Further passion has lead her to research modern jazz forerunners as diverse as Esperanza Spalding, Gregory Porter, Snarky Puppy, Herbie Hancock and Robert Glasper.
The Joe Ruberto Trio combines the art of jazz with experience, and the musicians together have headlined, collaborated and recorded with the best vocalists and musicians Australia has to offer. Festivals include The Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Noosa Jazz Festival, international venues, cruises and many many more.
“Charlotte Jane is an impressive performer. She is not only an excellent violinist, but she is also a terrific singer. She performs quality music across many genres from funk to jazz and latin with a rare authenticity and panache. The combination of her violin and vocal artistry brings forth an artist who is unique, compelling, and engaging.” – Craig Scott (Chair of Jazz, Sydney Conservatorium of Music).
