Shayan Album Launch
'Shayan' is a seven-piece jazz ensemble, playing original compositions that incorporate influences from a wide range of styles including Iranian folk music, classical music, rock and 90's hip-hop.
Initially a quintet, the band was formed in 2015 by Omid Shayan after he won first prize in the "Darebin Music Festival Composition Competition". As the music stretched and expanded, so too did the ensemble with the addition of a horn section.
Now a seven-piece, 'Shayan' features some of the most creative and talented improvisers in Melbourne and will be performing the songs from their freshly recorded debut album: "Sounds from Cross Street".
