Claire Cross: Into Light + ORCHA
Claire Cross: Into Light
Claire Cross presents her latest project ‘Into Light’, a darkly-hued, evocative suite exploring the ideas of discovery, carving light from darkness, and the bravery of dreaming. With swells of ambiguous textures interwoven with improvisation, Into Light is inspired by ambient-chamber ensemble works, with a jazz sensibility.
This suite was first premiered in 2019 at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, with support from the Tomorrow Is My Turn leadership program.

ORCHA (Support Set)
Violin isn’t something often associated with electronic music, but the work of Melbourne-based violinist Matt Sheers, who goes by ORCHA, will certainly challenge that assumption. Using violin as his primary instrument, ORCHA crafts experimental, immersive, intricate soundscapes that oscillate between acoustic sounds and electronica.
His new album, while anchored in experimentation, is his most melodic work to date; fuelled by lush vocals and textured melodies, which unfurl into a universe entirely of his own making.
