Push Portal

Vocalist and lyricist Iseula Hingano leads a band that joins together to create a sonically beautiful yet interesting sound that draws on soul, blues, and jazz-noir. It’s atmospheric, edgy and makes a bold statement of unmistakable intent. This is music that pushes the envelope yet reflects the obvious dexterity of the musicians.
Debut single “The Hunter” incorporates Arabic sounds and Cuban grooves in a cinematic piece of future-jazz that challenges expectations and defies convention. “We wanted to create something that relied as much on feel and inventiveness as much as chops” says guitarist Stella Anning. “Where traditional playing dictated that we turn right, we wanted to turn left”. Joining Hingano and Anning is a stellar line-up of Mike Di Cecco (drums) and Brad Crewe (bass). Citing influences as diverse as Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles and Hiatus Kaiyote, as well as imagery and aesthetics drawn from dive bars, experimental art and videography, Push Portal’s music provides an alluring invitation to some dark subject matter.
