MEATSHELL - Album Launch w/ Maria Moles (solo) and Niran Dasika (solo)
MEATSHELL - the experimental-folk duo of Helen Svoboda (contrabass/voice) and Andrew Saragossi (tenor saxophone) - are excited to celebrate the launch of their long-awaited sophomore album Since Subito through Sydney label Earshift Music. This night also features two special solo sets from Maria Moles (drumkit) and Niran Dasika (trumpet and synths).
With a shared curiosity for the subtle beauty of things, the pair cultivates unconventional sound worlds, transcending traditional song forms by emphasising the power of story-telling through sound. Recorded in the Netherlands one week before the first lockdown, this body of music is the culmination of their time spent living in Europe.
The album is a manifestation of the duo's interpretation of the concepts and principles underpinning the cubist art movement, with a particular focus on juxtaposition and simultaneous revealing of various, sometimes clashing perspectives of one idea. Encompassing the full emotional and dynamic spectrum, Since Subito sees MEATSHELL exploit their distinct quirky and abstract songwriting approach, reflecting on aspects of climate change, mental illness and new birth.
“Meatshell doesn’t need more then one spotlight to take the biggest stage by storm...Their uniqueness oozes out of their energetic and intense stage presence, charisma and musicality.”
