Audrey Powne "Flowers" Launch
Audrey Powne Is probably best known to Melbourne Audiences for fronting Sweet Soul band “Leisure Centre" (FKA The Do Yo Thangs) and 80s funk duo Au Dré. Known for her powerful, soulful vocals and commanding stage presence whilst effortlessly picking up her Trumpet mid tune to blast out horn lines and sophisticated improvisations.
Audrey has performed with many jazz luminaries including Vince Jones, Leroy Jones and most recently in the Melbourne International Jazz Festival with legendary Saxophonist Maceo Parker. Her blend of traditional Jazz language and repertoire with contemporary pop sensibilities results in a unique and eclectic live performance experience. As a Trumpeter, vocalist, and composer, Audrey's skill and virtuosity has seen her become an important player in a blossoming new generation of Melbourne’s celebrated jazz scene.
