James Sherlock Trio with special guest Hetty Kate (FRA)
James has performed, toured, recorded and collaborated with a variety of great musicians; however, the Guitar/Bass/Drums trio has been the backbone of James' performance output for over 20 years. This incarnation of the trio features outstanding young virtuoso bassist Ben Hanlon for the performances on the 9 th , 16 th and 23 rd and the great Ben Robertson on the 30th, with the masterful Danny Fischer on drums for all shows. Joining the trio for these performances is Paris-based vocalist Hetty Kate;
James and Hetty have been performing together since 2010, they have performed at festivals and clubs throughout Australia as well as performances in Europe and New Zealand. James played on Hetty’s ABC Jazz release ‘Dim the Lights’ as well as her EP ‘Comes Love’ and forthcoming recording due to be released in late 2018 featuring James and Ben.
Hetty established herself as one of Australia’s most popular and in-demand vocalists and is now making her mark internationally since relocating to Paris. We’re lucky to feature Hetty as our guest for these rare Melbourne performances.
"This could be exhibit A in the case that some of the world's most exciting jazz is being made in Australia.”
John Shand - Sydney Morning Herald (“Watermark” review)
“Sherlock is a wonderful guitarist, and a craftsman of songs possessing beauty and depth. “Solo” should make a few Top 10s of the year and help propel Sherlock onto the bigger stage he surely deserves. Definitely a name to watch out for.”
Ian Patterson, All About Jazz.
“She’s truly one of the best swing-style vocalists on the current scene.”
