ATM15 Big Band
ATM15 Big Band are led by award winning composer Andrew Murray. For their new monthly residency at the Jazzlab, Andrew has invited top composers from across Australia to compose new works for the band, with complete freedom to experiment with the band and their writing however they wish. A no holds barred approach.
Andrew Murray was inspired to start his big band after spending time studying in Austria with Ed Partyka and Bob Brookmeyer, and prior to that in Australia with Graham Lyall and his main muse Mace Francis. ATM15 Big Band feature some of Australia's top improvising musicians and have spent over ten years performing regularly around Melbourne, releasing records and continually placing an emphasis on original compositions and arrangements.
The band are fortunate to have collaborated with the following musicians over the course of their career; Kristin Berardi, Sandy Evans, Gary Pinto, Michelle Nicole, Troy Cassar-Daley, Bob Sedergreen, Sarah McKenzie, Hue Blanes, Olivia Chindamo, Chelsea Wilson, Mace Francis, Nat Grant, Fem Belling, Louisa Rankin, Elly Hoyt, Hetty Kate, Alinta Chidzey, Thando, Troy McMillin, Harriett Allcroft, Theo Carbo, Sarah Ramsey and Priscilla Gardner.
