MJC Presents: Alex Stuart Quintet (France)

The critically acclaimed Paris-based expatriate guitarist/composer Alex Stuart is touring Australia nationally (including the Wangaratta Festival) to promote the release of his fourth album 'Aftermath'.

His powerhouse Quintet includes some of the most in-demand musicians on the richly multi-cultural Paris scene, with Arno de Casanove (trumpet and keyboards); Irving Acao (tenor saxophone and keyboards); Ouriel Ellert (bass) and Antoine Banville (drums). Between them, their list of credits include Tony Allen, Chucho Valdes, Ray Lema, Pharaoh Sanders, Stéphane Guillaume, De La Soul, Mamani Keita, Les Yeux Noirs, Olivier Ker Ourio, Etienne Mbappe, Lou Tavano, and Emilie Parisien)

This album is inspired by the dark turning point the world is facing today, but also by the omnipresent and evident beauty that surrounds us. Stuart’s compositions are influenced as much by the urban landscapes of Paris as the wild coasts of Australia. These are the inspirations for "Aftermath", intuitive music which defies boundaries, blending jazz, rock, pop, groove and world music
