The Shuffle Demons first broke onto the Canadian music scene with an electrifying musical fusion that drew in equal measure from Sun Ra, Charles Mingus, Run DMC and the Beastie Boys. The band was one of the first indie acts to break out on MuchMusic. This band was genre bending, highly visually entertaining, funny, and best of all, could really PLAY.
The Charlotte Jane Quartet, features original arrangements, rare tunes and stellar musicianship by Charlotte Jane with Joe Ruberto, Michael Tortoni, Gideon Marcus (plus special guests). This long-standing collaboration has created onstage chemistry, freedom of improvisation and adventures foraging into new musical paths with outrageous swingin', smooth singin' and fusion jazz elements.
ATM15 Big Band are led by award winning composer Andrew Murray. For their new monthly residency at the Jazzlab, Andrew has invited top composers from across Australia to compose new works for the band, with complete freedom to experiment with the band and their writing however they wish. A no holds barred approach.
